Incorporating a Winter Theme in Your Professional Photos

Was your little one born in the winter? If so then what better way to honor the season than with winter themed photos?! While basically every other season is popular for outdoor sessions, getting outside during the New England winter hasn’t become as popular (but I’m working on it! See here: Outdoor Winter Portrait Photography). But just because we’re in my studio doesn’t mean we can’t bring a little of the outdoors inside for some winter themed professional photos. Whether it’s newborn or one year (or any milestone in between), I have plenty of ideas about incorporating the season.

Winter Themed Newborn Pictures

When it comes to winter themed newborn portraits, the best thing is to incorporate small touches of winter. This can be done with a giant pompom hat. Or the beautiful glimmering snowflake headband. I’ve had parents want to incorporate a bit more of a festive look with holly berries and a wreath. Then of course there’s the oh so popular snowman look (a definite fan favorite). Or maybe you’re more into winter sports and want to include some hockey. No matter what your little touch of winter it’s sure to be perfect for your newborn session.

Winter Ideas for Cake Smash Sessions

I love a good cake smash theme. So it’s not really surprising that I would love a winter theme. And there are so many different options for winter themes! I love the sparkly snow princess type theme in the first session down below. But Miss M’s more subtle silver and white snow theme is another great option. Giant snowflakes and flocked pine trees make the perfect backdrop for Mr. A’s winter wonderland (or ONEderland) cake smash. For a little less cold and snowy winter theme, I love the lumberjack idea. And no print makes me think of winter quite like buffalo plaid! I’ve done a few lumberjack themed cake smash sessions over the years and I can safely say I love every single one.
