Salem NH 1 Year Cake Smash Photos :: Miss M
Miss M came to my studio from Salem NH to celebrate her first birthday with some cake smash photos! I had previously photographed her for her 3 month and 6 month milestone portraits. I love getting the opportunity to see littles like Miss M grow during their first year. It truly is crazy to look back on all of these sessions (I have since photographed her for her 2 year portraits AND for her new baby sister’s newborn photos!) and see how little she was. As a parent I know it’s even crazier for her mom and dad to look at them. Thankfully, they have these portraits as keepsakes to remember all of these milestones!
While first birthday portraits are so much fun because, well, cake (duh), they’re also about celebrating this milestone. And turning one is a huge milestone! So while we had a ton of fun with the cake smash portion of the session, I also made sure to get some portraits before the cake happened. Since Miss M is a winter baby, her mom wanted to grab some Christmas themed portraits as well. Scroll down to see the sweetest little Christmas set.
Using a Theme in these Salem NH Cake Smash Portraits
In her style pre-session questionnaire, mom mentioned the theme Winter Onederland for Miss M’s cake smash. And can I just say, I LOVE this theme. So often with winter themed cake smash sessions, parents go the cozy woodland route. And while I love all things cozy, this was definitely a fun change. The over-sized sparkly silver Christmas ornaments added just the right amount of glitz. Fuzzy white “snow” which I use during my holiday mini sessions and a snowflake banner completed the frosty winter theme.
Cake smash sessions are all about having fun and being creative. Which is why my team and I love a themed session. Have you checked out our Cake Smash Bucket List post yet? If not make sure you do! We have so many themes we would love to get a chance to create for you. But honestly, we’ve never met a theme we didn’t love!

Deciding Where To Display Your Wall Art
Do you know that you want to turn your photos into framed artwork or canvases, but you’re just not sure where in your house to display them? I can help! Whether you’re trying to decide on what kind of artwork you want, or what size works best in your home, or even where to hang them, I want to help you however I can. My goal is always to make every aspect of sessions as easy and stress free as possible. This means helping before the session, during the session, and even after the session. I can even make a custom wall art mock-up using a photo you send me of your walls, and the images from your session. This can be extremely helpful when it comes to choosing between different rooms. Below you can see side-by-side mock-ups of the same size canvas in two different rooms.
