Mr. L’s First Birthday and Cake Smash Photos :: Boston Baby Photographer
As a Boston baby photographer I love getting to celebrate milestones with my clients. And photographing first birthday celebrations are hands down some of the most fun I have! Mr. L and his family came from Boston to my portrait studio for his cake smash photos. We started off the session with some solo portraits of Mr. L. He had a few outfit changes, from an all blue look to a super adorable light brown piece that I still cannot get over. These portraits are sweet and fun, and a perfect way to document your little one getting older. I especially love when parents choose to keep a similar color scheme from earlier milestone sessions. Having portraits of your child throughout the first year in a similar outfit or color scheme is such a fun way to have keepsakes from their first year of life.
Of course during these Boston cake smash photo sessions, the real fun (and messiness!) comes when the cake is brought out. But the before part of the session, which is all about portraits, can still be fun. I often bring out the bubble machine which is always a hit. Planning the Perfect Cake Smash
Suspenders: check. Buffalo plaid: check. Cute baby: check. Pancake birthday cake: check! Mr. L’s rustic, lumberjack themed Boston cake smash photos had absolutely everything you could want. From the cute baby right down to the faux pine trees and stumps. This little red lantern usually finds it’s home in my Christmas decorations but I absolutely love how it looks with this cake smash set up. A lumberjack theme is a great example of a theme that doesn’t need to be over-the-top with extra decorations. And yet it still absolutely comes through in the photographs. In her pre-session questionnaire mom had said she loved when the props weren’t overbearing but “just enough to set the stage” and I think we accomplished that!
