Milestone Baby Portraits Round Up :: Andover MA Photographer
There once was a time when newborn photos and one year photos were the only sessions that most people focused on. Thankfully as the years have gone by, other milestone sessions have been getting a spotlight. Every milestone throughout your baby’s first life is special and amazing. And every milestone deserves to be celebrated with baby portraits! Here are the sessions featured in my blog recently for each of the milestones during the first year of life. 3-4 Month Baby Photos
The32-4 month milestone is all about documenting your little one’s growth. During the newborn stage, they’re still mostly sleeping and there’s very little interacting. At three to four months, they’re starting to really grow into their personalities. Sometimes they might still sleep during their session. And other times they’re smiling and laughing. Plus, while newborn photos tend to be nude or swaddled, there are so many cute outfit options for 3-4 month olds! And the vast majority of my props for newborns also work perfectly for these milestone baby portraits.
6-8 Month Baby Portraits
The 6-8 month milestone is less about the specific age and more about the milestone that they have reached: sitting! Which is why this photo session is also called a “sitter session”. At this point, baby can sit safely on their own (or inside of a prop). This is such a big milestone during your little one’s first year! Plus their personalities are growing even more and truly shine through during their sessions. These milestone baby portraits have absolutely become some of my favorites over the years. I especially love how versatile they are when it comes to styling, props, and accessories.
9-12 Month Baby Photos
Last but not least, we have 9-12 month baby photos. While typically at 12 months (aka 1 year old) we do cake smash sessions, not every family wants to go with a full smash. So instead the portrait session becomes a regular milestone baby portrait session! At this age baby is sitting, sometimes crawling or standing, maybe even taking some steps. But for the most part it’s the last milestone before your little one is able to run away–definitely worth taking advantage of with portraits. Their personalities are here to stay, and stranger danger is sometimes something to take into consideration. Whether you are using this time to update your family photos, or focusing just on your little one, this age is a great one and perfect for baby photos.
