Miss L’s First Birthday Celebration :: Wakefield Cake Smash Photographer
Being a Wakefield area cake smash photographer is hands down the best job. Now of course I don’t only photograph cake smash sessions. I am also a maternity, newborn, baby, child, and family photographer for clients around the Wakefield MA area. And every milestone session is fun and challenging and rewarding in its own way. But there is something extra special about getting to celebrate first birthdays with sweet and adorable little ones like Miss L. And her cake smash was not only fun and festive, it was beautiful as well!
We started off with some family photos before shifting the focus to be on just the birthday girl. One of the main reasons why I start off with family portraits is to make sure that your little one is comfortable with me. Stranger Danger is definitely a real thing for babies and toddlers. And over my years of photographing little ones I have learned that one of the best ways to get babies, toddlers and children to be comfortable with me and my assistant is to show them that their parents are comfortable too. As far as this Wakefield cake smash session, Miss L was smiles from the second she walked in the door. This is not always the case, so I was thrilled at how quickly she warmed up to us. And then, it was time to smash some cake!
Celebrating Your Little One’s First Birthday with Crabapple Photography
Prior to any session in my Andover MA photography studio, I send parents a questionnaire full of questions regarding who will be present during a session, what are must have photos, and with general styling preferences. And cake smash sessions are no exception. When I asked mom and dad about theme or style/mood for this session this was their response: “We want it to be light and on the rustic and floral side.” Light, rustic, and floral are three of my favorite terms to hear when it comes to cake smash sessions! These boho/floral hoops are something I am a little obsessed with. The perfect balance between clean and simple, and whimsical.
A fun fact from this Wakefield cake smash session: Miss L went straight for the cake! We actually had to take her away from the cake she was eating so much. This is definitely not something that always happens during these sessions. It was so much fun for all of us.
Another thing I love about a set design like this Wakefield cake smash is how it is mostly neutral. Miss L could’ve worn something bright and sparkly and still looked perfect in front of this set.
