Families don’t always need photographs because something extraordinary is happening. Sometimes it’s simply because your baby has changed again. Or perhaps your toddler has suddenly lost those baby cheeks. Maybe you realize that the photographs on your walls still show a version of your family from two years ago. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph Quincy families at many of those little milestones over the years, from newborn portraits to first birthdays and cake smash sessions. While not every session I photograph can be shared publicly, the Quincy photography work featured on my blog represents families I’ve had the privilege of photographing since 2017.
My studio is located in Andover, Massachusetts right off of 93 and near 495. I work with families throughout Greater Boston, the North Shore, and even Southern New Hampshire. For Quincy families looking for a photographer, that means you can come to my studio. You will experience a guided portrait experience designed specifically around babies, children, and families.
Whether you’re expecting a baby, celebrating a first birthday, or simply overdue for updated family portraits, this page is a starting point for exploring photography for Quincy families.
Photography for Quincy Families
Your family probably won’t fit neatly into one category for very long. A maternity session becomes newborn portraits. A newborn becomes a sitter. A sitter becomes a first birthday. Before long, that baby who once fit in the crook of your arm is running around the studio.
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy photographing families through multiple stages rather than treating every session as a completely separate event. At Crabapple Photography, I offer newborn, maternity, baby milestone, cake smash, and family photography. If you can think of it, I can photograph it for families throughout the Boston area, including Quincy.
Newborn Photography for Quincy Families
The newborn stage is one of the most fleeting times to photograph. Babies change dramatically in those first few weeks. This is why newborn sessions are planned with both the baby’s age and individual temperament in mind.
My newborn sessions take place in my Andover studio, where I can carefully control the environment. Plus I can have everything prepared before you arrive. There is no need to pack up every newborn prop, wrap, or blanket you own. The session is designed around your baby, with time for feeding, soothing, and the inevitable pauses that come with photographing a newborn. Safety and experience matter particularly during newborn photography. After more than 17 years of photographing babies, I know that a pose that looks simple in the final portrait can require considerable experience and care behind the scenes.
Baby Milestone Photography
Newborn portraits aren’t the only photographs worth making during your baby’s first year. Somewhere between those first sleepy newborn days and a first birthday, your baby develops a personality that deserves to be documented too. Sitter sessions around six to nine months can be a wonderful way to capture that stage, whether your baby is sitting independently, starting to crawl, or simply beginning to interact with the camera.
I’ve photographed Quincy babies at several points throughout their first year, including milestone sessions that aren’t always represented on the blog because many families choose to keep their photographs private.
First Birthday & Cake Smash Photography in Quincy
A first birthday deserves more than a quick snapshot on your phone. Cake smash sessions give your baby a chance to be the center of attention while we document all the expressions that come with it: curiosity, excitement, confusion, determination, and sometimes a very serious opinion about frosting.
I’ve photographed several Quincy children for their first birthdays and cake smash sessions over the years. Some have been simple and classic, while others have incorporated a more personalized theme.
If you’re planning a first birthday session, you can also browse my collection of cake smash themes for ideas before your baby’s big day.
Maternity Photography for Quincy Families
Maternity photography is often the beginning of a family’s portrait story. While my publicly shared Quincy sessions are more heavily represented by newborn and first year photography, I also photograph maternity portraits for expecting families throughout Greater Boston.
Maternity sessions can be beautifully simple. They don’t have to feel overly posed or elaborate. The goal is to create portraits that show the anticipation of this particular season of your life and give you photographs of yourself before your family changes again.
For Quincy families planning both maternity and newborn portraits, scheduling the two sessions together can also make the process easier. You can get everything on the calendar before your baby arrives and then focus on enjoying those first days.
Real Quincy Photography Sessions
One of the most useful parts of a local photography website is being able to see actual work from families in the area. I’ve photographed more Quincy families than the blog alone can show. Some sessions are private because families have chosen not to have their children’s photographs shared online, and I always respect that decision.
The Quincy sessions below are the ones I have permission to share publicly. They span several years and include newborn portraits, first birthdays, and cake smash sessions.

These sessions offer a look at the range of newborn portraits I create, from individual baby portraits to images with parents and siblings. Click on any photo to see the full blog post and gallery.

Quincy First Birthday & Cake Smash Sessions
First birthday sessions are particularly fun because the baby who arrives at the studio for a cake smash is often very different from the sleepy newborn I photographed months earlier.
For families who want to document the entire first year, these sessions can become part of a larger collection of photographs rather than a single birthday milestone. Click on any photo to see the full blog post and gallery.

Why Quincy Families Choose a Studio in Andover
If you’re searching for a photographer in Quincy, you may initially assume that you need to find someone with a studio in Quincy itself. You don’t.
My studio is located in Andover, and I work with families from throughout Greater Boston. For newborn and baby photography in particular, a dedicated studio gives us a controlled, comfortable environment with everything prepared specifically for your session.
For Quincy families, the drive to Andover also means you aren’t limited to photographers located within the city. If you love a photographer’s work and approach, it can be worth considering the experience rather than choosing based solely on the closest address. My studio is designed specifically for portrait sessions with babies, children, and families, and I guide you through the process from planning through the finished artwork.
Planning Your Quincy Family Photography Session
If you’re considering professional photos for your family, the best place to start is with the stage you’re trying to document. For a newborn session, you’ll want to get in touch before your baby arrives whenever possible so we can talk through timing and availability.
For baby milestone photography, there is more flexibility. Sitter sessions are often scheduled once your baby is sitting confidently. First birthday sessions can be planned in advance around your child’s birthday or a nearby date.
Family sessions are equally flexible. Some families schedule them around a particular season, while others simply realize that the children have changed enough that it’s time for updated portraits.
If you’re not sure which type of session makes sense for your family, that’s something I can help you determine. You don’t need to know exactly what you want before reaching out.
Quincy, MA Photography FAQ
Where do Quincy families have their photography sessions?
Newborn, baby, maternity, and many family portrait sessions take place at my studio in Andover, Massachusetts. I also photograph families at outdoor locations throughout Greater Boston and the surrounding areas when an outdoor session is the right fit.
How far in advance should I book newborn photography?
I recommend reaching out during pregnancy whenever possible. Newborn sessions are scheduled with your expected due date in mind, which gives us the best chance of finding a date that works within those early weeks after your baby arrives.
If your baby has already arrived, it’s still worth contacting me. I’ll let you know what availability looks like.
Do you photograph babies after the newborn stage?
Yes. Baby milestone photography can take place throughout the first year, including sitter sessions and first birthday portraits.
If you missed newborn photos, that doesn’t mean you’ve missed your opportunity to document your baby’s first year. Babies change so quickly that there are plenty of meaningful stages to photograph.
Do you offer cake smash photography for Quincy babies?
Yes. Cake smash sessions are available for first birthdays and can be kept simple or customized around a particular theme.
I’ve photographed several Quincy babies for first birthday and cake smash sessions, and you can see examples above.
Do you photograph maternity sessions for Quincy families?
Yes. Maternity photography is available for expecting families from Quincy and throughout Greater Boston.
Maternity portraits can also be combined with newborn photography for families who want to document both stages with the same photographer.
What should we wear for family photos?
The best outfits usually coordinate without looking overly matched. I help families plan clothing before their session so that colors, textures, and styles work together without distracting from the people in the photographs.
Can we see more Quincy photography sessions?
Yes. This page includes the Quincy sessions I currently have permission to share publicly. Because I photograph many families who choose to keep their children’s images private, my published blog archive represents only a portion of the Quincy families I’ve photographed over the years.
You can also explore my broader family photography, newborn photography, baby photography, child photography, and maternity photography portfolios to see additional examples of my work.

Photographing Your Family’s Next Chapter
Your family doesn’t have to be at a major milestone to deserve updated photographs. Maybe your baby is turning one. Maybe your children have grown enough that the last family portrait on your wall no longer looks like them. Or maybe you’re expecting your first baby and want to document this season before everything changes.
Whatever brings you in front of the camera, the goal is the same: to create portraits that feel like your family now and still mean something years from now.
If you’re looking for a Quincy MA family photographer, newborn photographer, baby photographer, or photographer for a first birthday, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
Let’s talk about your family, the type of session you’re considering, and what you’d like to remember about this stage of your life.
