Mr. C’s Quincy Sesame Street Cake Smash and Splash :: Boston Area Photographer
This cutie came to my studio from Quincy to celebrate his first birthday with a super fun cake smash photo session. We started off the session with some family portraits before we got down to the real fun of the day. The cake smash! This session had a little extra something after the cake smash as well. A milk bath! These milk bath sessions are always fun and I really love how the photos turn out. We place baby in a little tub full of (watered down) milk and let them splash. These sessions are really best for cake smash since baby is old enough to sit up by themselves. If you’re interested in adding milk bath photos onto your cake smash session or booking a milk bath session on it’s own–let me know!

Using a Theme for your First Birthday Pictures
There are few things quite as classic and iconic as Sesame Street. Many of us grew up watching it, and it still exists for our kiddos today. I am surprised to say I haven’t done many Sesame Street cake smash sessions before this one. But I highly recommend it! One of the fun things about cake smash photos is that they are the perfect excuse to really go all out. When it comes to bright colors and props, there are so many different options. And since these one year and cake smash sessions are all about celebrating–bring on the balloons!
For this Sesame Street cake smash, the main inspiration was this banner containing the faces of all the different characters. Since Sesame Street is full of primary colors, it made sense to use balloons that were as close to those shades as possible. We had Cookie Monster blue, Elmo Red, Big Bird yellow and even some Oscar the Grouch Green. Add in some brightly colored tissue paper puffs to create even more fun texture and contrast behind Mr. C. His parents brought along stuffed versions of some Sesame Street friends to join Mr. C in his celebrating. And rounding out the colorful fun: the clothes and the cake!
This session is a great example of a fun and colorful theme. For more theme ideas check out my post highlighting many of the themes I’ve photographed in the past: Cake Smash Theme Ideas.
