Mr. L’s Classic Blue First Birthday Cake Smash Photo Session :: Middleton MA
Mr. L came to my studio from Middleton MA for his first birthday cake smash photos. I had previously photographed Mr. L when he was only 11 weeks old, and then again with his family at their home for a combination family portrait and sitter session. Getting the chance to celebrate his big O-N-E with him was so much fun for me. Being a family and baby portrait photographer is absolutely the best job in the world (the best one I can think of, at least!) and getting to see adorable little ones like Mr. L is just one of the reasons. I mean, that smile and those rolls?! Beyond precious.

Styling a Cake Smash Portrait Session
When it comes to cake smash sessions, anything goes. Bright and colorful, classic and neutral, fun themes. For this one, it was all about staying simple and classic. The blue banner behind Mr. L adds just the right pop of bright color. And the different shades of blue help to add contrast and variety. But other that that, it’s all about the white background, and of course the adorable baby. And is there anything cuter than a baby in blue jeans?! I think not.
Mom did bring along a little sombrero that says “uno” and it still makes me laugh looking at it. I have a ton of props and accessories in my studio that parents are more than welcome to choose from for their cake smash sessions. But specialty items like this one I don’t always have. If you let me know prior to your session I can absolutely try to get my hands on something specific for your theme. But clients are absolutely welcome to bring along props or accessories to their session. Whether that’s something meaningful, or just something cute and funny.
