A Sunflower Themed Cake Smash for Miss K :: Roslindale MA Photographer

There are so many flowers that can be classified as “happy” flowers and I think sunflowers are definitely on that list. Which makes sunflower a perfect choice for a theme for cake smash sessions. These sessions are all about having fun and celebrating this momentous occasion. They are the perfect time to get colorful and creative. The bright yellow of sunflowers is such a great choice. I love how the yellow pops against the white wooden back drop. Add in some pops of green from the leaves and pink from the extra flowers. Plus a little extra sparkle from some twinkle lights. And all combined it creates a beautiful cake smash backdrop that is a little bit rustic, a little bit whimsical, and altogether sweet and girly.

Styling 1 Year Photos

Before we got to Miss K’s sunflower cake smash, it was all about family and solo portraits. For the styling of this portion of the portraits they kept it super simple and cute with all white clothes for Miss K. Mom and dad matched the vibes with white shirts of their own. I love how the white pops against the dark backdrop. And I also love how it matches the background when they’re in front of the white background. I’m a big fan of both high contrast and monochromatic looks. Wearing all white is a great way to accomplish both of these in one session!
