Miss E’s Watermelon Themed Cake Smash and First Birthday Photos :: Burlington MA Photographer
Miss E and her family came to my studio from nearby Burlington MA to celebrate her first birthday with some cake smash portraits. And not just any cake smash photos, but WATERMELON cake smash photos! This is such a fun and cute idea for summer. Before we got to the celebration photos, I got some really precious family portraits of this family of three. I love that mom and dad kept the family and solo portrait part of the session very neutral with Miss E in a white dress, mama in a white and very light gray gingham dress, and dad in a matching light gray shirt. This gave the session a ton of variety between the more formal portraits and the bright colorful cake smash photos. Perfect for those who can’t decide between colorful or neutrals!
Choosing The Perfect Summer Theme
When it comes to cake smash themes like this watermelon one, there are so many different things to get inspiration from. Books, tv, movies, animals, places, hobbies. One great place to start if you’re still undecided is with your baby’s birth season! I’ve done everything from rustic fall foliage colored fall themes, to winter wonderland, to pretty pastel spring themes and everything in between. This little lady turned one in June which is right on the cusp of spring into summer. There are so many great summer related theme ideas. The beach, the 4th of July, lemonade, picnic, and so much more.
This watermelon theme is another great summer cake smash idea. The pink and green color of the cake matched the pink and green watermelon backdrop perfectly. Miss E’s tutu was perfectly precious. And the real cut watermelon served two purposes. Not only was it a cute accessory, it also was a snack for Miss E! Some babies really don’t love going for the cake right away and we have to entice them with a different snack. The watermelon was a hit, as you can see!
