Every year I offer Christmas and holiday mini sessions for family pictures. And while these are a great option for many families, they’re definitely not the ideal type of session for everyone. Mini sessions are just what they sound like–mini! Which means that we are absolutely able to capture some beautiful photos of your family that will be wonderful keepsakes. However there are some draw backs. The most obvious being the amount of time and therefore the amount of variety included in your gallery. For parents that are looking for numerous outfit changes or sets, for example. Another thing to keep in mind is your individual children. If you have a little one who takes a while to warm up it might be best to book a full family holiday session. Whether it’s because you want the time to get comfortable in my studio, or because you’re looking for a gallery with more depth, a full family & holiday session might be the option for you.

Styling Ideas for Festive Family Photos
One of the things I love about this family photo session is how they really managed to get the best of both worlds. For the full family portraits the whole family was in sweaters and had a festive, somewhat formal vibe. Especially the sibling photos which definitely leaned towards formal. But then we had an outfit change into one of my favorite Christmas photo staples: matching pajamas! I have had families come in for photos in full matching pajamas (mom and dad included). Whether it’s just the kids getting comfy and cozy in their jammies or the whole family, I love it!
Getting the chance to have both aesthetics included in your session is one of the many benefits to a full holiday family pictures session.
