The Front Steps Project Family Photos :: Massachusetts Photographer
The month was April of 2020. Just about everything that wasn’t an absolute necessity was shut down. Social distancing was absolutely the law of the land. Which meant that I wasn’t able to offer ANY indoor sessions. I had 6 total sessions for the entire month. I had definitely never imagined anything like this could happen. But then some other photographers started taking socially distanced pictures outdoors at people’s homes. The Front Steps Project was born. Five out of my six sessions that month were these front steps style photos. I used my 70-200mm lens which is a very long lens. This meant that I could be 10-15 feet away while taking these portraits. Clients came out into their yard or on their porch and I was able to get some really special photos for them. These were clients who had to postpone their newborn sessions, a maternity session, and even a one year cake smash. I know they aren’t the traditional portraits. But I’m so glad these families were able to have these!
Now we are back in the studio (and outdoors) for full sessions. But don’t worry, we are still taking health and safety very seriously. Check out this blog post from back in early 2021 to read about all the changes we made to sessions: Our Photo Studio and Safety During Covid.
