A Pink and Gold Cake Smash Photo Session for Miss S :: Cambridge MA Baby Photographer
Miss S came to my studio from nearby Cambridge MA to celebrate her first birthday with a cake smash photo session. I had previously photographed her big brother for his cake smash, some seasonal mini sessions, and again for family photos. I had also taken some Easter photos of the two siblings not long before this first birthday photo session. I’ve seen Miss S and her big bro since this session for holiday portraits as well. Getting to watch these little ones grow up is something I am always so thankful for!

Choosing A Color Scheme For First Birthday Portraits
When it comes to cake smash photos, it’s all about celebrating and having fun. Which is why choosing a fun theme or color scheme is always a great idea. And Miss S’s session is a great example of how you can have a set color scheme without it getting too overly bright and bold. Pink and gold is a classic color combination. And cake smash photos like this Cambridge session are the perfect time to use this beautiful color scheme. It’s pretty and sweet for a one year old. But it’s also timeless enough that these photos will make gorgeous keepsakes and wall art. Plus the glittery gold party hat add just the right amount of whimsy and make the photos perfectly celebratory.
Of course the cake smash portion of the session is a definite crowd pleaser. But for the most part I also take non-cake smash portraits during first birthday sessions. In this case, Miss S posed in the empty bath I use during smash and splash or milk bath sessions. Add some pink faux flowers and this set is simple and gorgeous. And I love how Miss S’s yellow dress pops.
