Mr. J’s Cake Smash Portraits near Boston MA
Here at Crabapple Photography, we love to celebrate. And what better occasion to celebrate than Mr. J’s first birthday?! He and his family came to my studio from nearby Boston MA for his one year and cake smash portraits. I had previously photographed Mr. J for his newborn photos and again for some fun Christmas photos. Getting a chance to see him, his big sis, and his parents again was so much fun. Almost as much fun as Mr. J had. This little man is one smiley baby! When it comes to cake smash sessions, sometimes baby just isn’t a fan of the cake. And that’s okay, we can always make it work. But look at Mr. J go! Obsessed with the cake-in-the-mouth shot.
There are so many reasons we love one year photos. But hands down one of the best parts is how much fun we have. Whether it’s a simple cake smash, or a wild theme. Styling For One Year and Cake Smash Photos
When it comes to styling one year photos, I truly believe you can’t go wrong with classic and timeless. I love that this family went with a blue and white color scheme. Not only did the family and sibling portraits match the cake smash flawlessly. But blue and white is so classy. If you’re planning to use your portraits as wall art, it’s always a good idea to keep that in mind when it comes to styling your session. When you use classic color combinations like this one, you never have to worry about your photos clashing with your home decor. Mom also had another reason behind choosing this color combination for Mr. J’s Boston cake smash portraits. In the styling questionnaire that I send to all clients prior to their session, mom mentioned that Mr. J “has blue eyes so sticking to colors that complement him would be great”. And mom is right, Mr. J has such gorgeous baby blues!
When it came to the actual cake smash portion of the session, we stuck with the same color scheme. Some blue and white balloons, a matching bunting, and a light backdrop were the perfect set up. And how adorable does Mr. J look in his bowtie and suspenders? I will never get tired of seeing a baby in a bowtie!
