Baby Boy G’s Newborn Portraits from Dedham MA
Welcome to the world, and to my blog, Baby Boy G! This sweet Dedham MA family has been to my studio to celebrate new arrivals with newborn portraits three times now. They have also allowed me to capture other milestones and first birthday numerous times over the years. Because Mr. G is their fourth baby! First came the set of boy/girl twins, C and L. Then came big brother L. And finally, Mr. G. Getting the chance to capture maternity, newborn, sitter, and one year photos for all of these kiddos has been so fun and something I am so grateful for. Thank you G family!
Every time a parent reaches out to me to book newborn portraits for second (or third, or fourth, etc.) child, I am thrilled. Not only am I thrilled that they loved my portraits enough to book me again. But I’m also thrilled to get to watch the family grow. Over the years I have met so many wonderful families and babies, and I love getting to see them grow up. I also love that I am able to craft newborn sessions that are cohesive and create a link between the sessions. In this case, Mr. G wore the same overalls that his big brother wore during his newborn session. You can see Mr. C wearing them using the link in the next paragraph!

Incorporating Big Siblings
When it comes to newborn portrait photography, some parents want the session to be all about the baby. Other parents love to include themselves, extended family, and siblings in the photo shoot. I’m a big believer in doing what is right for your family, especially in terms of newborn portraits. This is such a fun, exciting time full of changes. It can be a stressful time, which is why my goal is always to have as little stress as possible during your Dedham area newborn portraits.
That being said, I always encourage parents to bring older siblings along for the experience. Not only will the photos of your children together be a wonderful keepsake to have. But the session can be such a great bonding moment for the new big sibling(s). I always have an assistant with me during sessions, which means an extra set of hands to help out with older siblings. That being said, you know your children best. And for some parents the best option is to bring along a grandparent, nanny, or trusted friend to help occupy older siblings. Another option I always recommend for older siblings is to have a family member or a parent take them out of the studio after the family and sibling portraits are complete.
For this Dedham family, incorporating big siblings into their newborn photos was a no-brainer. And I really love all of the sibling shots. But if I had to choose a favorite? The black and white of all four kids on the white rug is definitely one of them! I also love the close up of those sweet little newborn baby toes. Read more about macro photography here!
