Mommy and Me :: The Importance of Mommy and Me Photos
Mommy and Me photos are such an important photo shoot because so often, mama is behind the camera instead of in front of it. Maybe it’s because as moms we focus so much on our littles. Or maybe it’s because we just don’t love having our photos taken (I get it, trust me!). But either way, it’s so important to make sure that as moms we’re getting photos taken with our little ones. Not only are these photos that we can cherish now, but they will mean so much to our little ones as they get older. This is why I offered my first north of Boston Mommy and Me photo session a few years ago.
It was a great excuse to put the focus on moms and their sons or daughters. As a mother and a photographer, I know how few photos I have with my daughters. And the ones that I do have tend to be selfies more than anything else. So no more excuses about not wanting your picture taken. Because Mother’s Day is around the corner and what better gift to a mom in your life (or to yourself) than Mommy and Me portraits?
Mother’s Day Gifts during Quarantine 2020
This Mother’s Day is sure to be a little bit strange during this unprecedented time of social distancing. This means you will likely be with your kids, but not so likely that you’ll be with your own mother, or other family at this time. It is hard. Sometimes when times are hard, the only thing you can do is find the joy and humor. So why not commemorate this year’s unique Mother’s Day with a quarantine digital portrait! You can send me a photo of yourself, your kids, you and your kids (one you’ve taken or it can be one I’ve taken) and I will create this for you.
Styling Ideas for North of Boston Mommy and Me Photos
A lot of people (moms especially) worry about styling their portraits. But the good news is, there aren’t really any rules when it comes to styling. We can give you some guidelines, but the most important thing is that everyone is comfortable. A lot of times, our little ones get fussy when they’re wearing clothes that aren’t comfortable or familiar to them. Which means comfort should come first. Of course, when it comes to mommy and me photos, “twinning” with your little one is always a great idea. I love how this first mama went with white tops and jeans for both of them. And scroll down to see one of my favorite outfit choices: matching jean jackets!
