Mr O’s Cake Smash by Andover Photographer
Mr. O and his family came to my Andover studio from just down the street for Mr. O’s one year cake smash photos. I had previously photographed this sweet little man for his newborn photos, so I loved getting the chance to catch up. This little guy absolutely rocked his photos, and so did his big sister. And of course, we can’t forget the family pet! Pets are definitely an important part of families, and they should be included in family photos. Mr. O has the absolute best smile. And those dimples?! Swoon. He was happy and giggly throughout his entire portrait session. But once we brought that cake out? Watch out! Sometimes babies want nothing to do with the cake. This little man, however, went right for it. His parents had been telling us about the first time he ate cake and how he picked it right up. No sooner had the words left their lips and he did just that. Picture Perfect.
Cake Smash Theme Ideas
For Little Man O’s cake smash, mom wanted to go with a rustic lumberjack theme. I’ve done similar themes for cake smashes before, and it’s a great choice. The rustic tree stump, burlap banner, and pine cones are all props I have in the studio. They made for the perfect backdrop. Add some jeans and suspenders, and you cannot possibly get cuter. The final major milestone for a baby’s first year is their birthday. And this is a big milestone, and definitely one to celebrate! And these cake smash portraits have become iconic. What could be more fun than a cute baby with some birthday cake? These sessions are seriously some of the most fun sessions we have in the studio. They tend to be bright and colorful and full of laughter. Sometimes there’s music and dancing, since it is a party. But the best part of these sessions for me as the photographer is getting to capture these memories for families. Not just parents, but for these little ones as they grow older.
