Family Photography Burlington MA :: Catching up with the A Family

One of the best aspects of my job is being able to cultivate relationships with “my” families. There are some that I have known and been photographing for so long that every session with them feels less like work and more like a catching up session. It really is amazing being able to watch these kids grow from tiny little humans to bigger little humans with huge personalities! Whether I meet them for the first time in my role as a Burlington area newborn photographer, or just for family portraits, I love getting to see kiddos grow. The A Family from Burlington is one that I have loved getting to watch grow during their family photography sessions. I met up with them for some outdoor family photos last fall.

I’ve photographed this family for a while now, and am so lucky to see them a few times a year. Even still, every time I’m amazed by how quickly kids grow! And these two kiddos are some of my favorites. They’re so adorable together, and big bro is one of the best around. How precious is the photo of him giving his giggly little sis a kiss? I can practically hear her laughing as I look through these pictures. My favorite thing about photographing this family, besides the fact that it means I get to see them again, is that their love for one another truly shines through in every single family portrait.

What to Wear for an Outdoor Fall Burlington Family Photography Session

I get asked for advice on what to wear for Burlington area family and child portrait photography sessions pretty frequently. And I do have some tips and pointers that I give to parents. But when it comes down to it, there is no one right answer. However I will say, this family nailed it (way to go mom!). The styling is a fantastic mix of colors and patterns. Little sis is in the “hero” outfit which draws the most attention (perfect for a little girl!) and which pulls together all of the outfits. Mom has a belt and necklace on, adding in interest. Dad and son are both in solid color v-neck sweaters, but not the same color. Absolutely perfect! When taking photos outdoors, there’s the added challenge of coordinating with the abundance of color around you. You can’t ignore it. Once again, this family nailed it!

I have been a Burlington area professional photographer of newborn, babies and children of all ages since 2009. Over the years I have definitely figured out what works best and what doesn’t work as well when it comes to styling. And this goes for both Burlington family photography, and also child photography.

Displaying Your Family Pictures At Home

Whenever I go into someone’s home and see portraits of their family displayed on their walls, it makes me so happy. And I don’t just mean as a photographer. But as a mom (and as a daughter and sister) I love seeing how proud other people are of their families. This is one of the reasons I love being a family photographer. Knowing that I am giving families the opportunity to show off how much they love their families is a gift to me.
