Creating A Wall Gallery

Creating an At Home Wall Gallery Made Easy

Have you ever seen a home, whether it’s on T.V., Pinterest, or someone’s Instagram and thought “I love the way their photos are displayed”? Perfectly spaced apart, fitting their room both in size and style. And have you ever then thought “I could NEVER accomplish that”? Well, I’m here to tell you that you most certainly can. Gallery Walls can seem overwhelming, but I am here to help you!

TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT

If there is a space you are definitely considering hanging wall art, tape up a piece of printer paper (I know the size of this paper is 8.5×11. If you have another size paper that works too, just let me know the size!) and take a photo of the wall, as straight on as you can.

Send me the photos and I can let you know possible layouts for the space. Once we narrow down I can even send you mockups of your space with your actual portraits! It’s very cool software. Keep scrolling and you can see some examples.

TYPES OF WALL ART

Some things to think about are types of wall art: canvases or custom framed artwork or loose prints that you frame yourself. If you have a specific style of frame you are already using in your home, I can work with you to find custom frames that work with what you have. Loose prints are also the perfect option if you have frames at home you want to use.

LAYOUTS

If you’d like to start brainstorming layout ideas, here are a few. This is a great beginning place to help you recognize what you like. Do you like a clean layout with 3-4 photos all the same size? Do you prefer the look of a gallery filled with many pictures of varying sizes and shapes? Either way, take a peak and see which layouts you’re drawn to. And then let me help you customize the layout to your space, style, and photos.

Another great option is to put your photos on mantels, shelves, and book cases. If that works better in your space, I can help you with that, too.

THE PHOTOS

The next step (or maybe the first step, for some) is figuring out what photos you’d like to hang. Have you had numerous sessions you want to include in this gallery wall? Do you have wedding photos that you’ve been meaning to hang on the walls? These are all things to consider. Combine different sessions, years, and milestones into your gallery wall.
