Pastel Newborn Photo Styling for Miss R :: Newburyport MA Photographer
Miss R came to my studio with her parents from Newburyport MA for some newborn portraits. We did take some family portraits, but the big focus for this session was on the solo portraits of Miss R. And let me tell you, I could have shared them all! Everything from how sweet sleepy Miss R was, to the styling, is perfect in this session. She slept wonderfully throughout the session which meant I had lots of chances to change her swaddle, pose, and to get her hands out of the swaddle. Sometimes if baby isn’t quite sleepy enough, getting those hands free and keeping them asleep can be difficult. But Miss R was a rockstar for these photos. In the pre-session questionnaire, mom said she was open to suggestions when it came to color palette. She said she liked pink, neutrals, and sage/eucalyptus. I have faux eucalyptus in the studio I am always thrilled to use during newborn sessions. And the pastel color palette we went with is perfect for a newborn photo session!
Choosing a Color Palette for Baby Portraits
I am a little bit obsessed with the color palette for this session, I’m not going to lie. All of the soft colors are somehow both classic and timeless, but also unexpected and refreshing. Light lilac, dusty pink, and perhaps my favorite of all, light sage green. All of these colors go wonderfully together. They create a cohesive look without being too monochromatic. The small floral pillow brought from home ties the pinks, greens, and lilac together in a beautiful way, too. If you’re considering going with pastel colors for your newborn photo session, this is the perfect inspiration for you.
