Serene Styling and Posing Ideas for Newborn and Family Photos :: West Bridgewater MA Photographer
When this family of four came to my studio from West Bridgewater MA for baby girl E’s serene newborn photos, we had a few different priorities. Number one was some beautiful and serene newborn portraits. And number two was some photos of big brother C and his new baby sister E. Big brother was just over two years old during this session. And as any parent of a toddler can tell you, getting two year old kiddos to cooperate isn’t always easy. But my assistant and I have some tricks up our sleeves so we were able to get it done!
The photos of Mr. C sitting behind a Miss E in a little basket are sweet as can be. But it’s safe to say my favorite sibling shot is the one with the train tracks. They were placed in a heart around Miss E. This is one I’ve done before. Mom specifically mentioned in the pre-session questionnaire for these serene newborn and family photos!
Choosing Clean and Peaceful Looks for Newborn Portraits
In the styling questionnaire that I send out before a sessions, mom specifically mentioned vintage, rustic, and neutral colors. The thing with some of these words is that they can definitely mean something different to different people. But I still like getting an idea of what style we’re leaning towards. In this case, I also knew mom liked props, which allowed me to pull a few different options. Same with the wraps, blankets, and furs. Knowing we were going in a more neutral direction meant I could whites, creams, grays, and even a few blush options. I love how this light and cozy color scheme pairs with the delicate lace inspired basket and vintage style tiny bed to create this very calm and serene feel to these newborn photos.
