Mr. C’s 1st Trip Around the Sun Cake Smash :: Wakefield MA Photographer

Mr. C came to my studio from nearby Wakefield to celebrate his first birthday with me. I had photographed him a few months earlier for his 8 month photos which were super adorable. The year 2020 was (obviously) a weird one for many. For me and my business, it meant that for at least half the year many parents missed out on the traditional milestone sessions. In this case, a chain of events meant that Mr. C was unable to get newborn photos. However, he was in my studio for his sitter session at 8 months which was super fun. He was beyond adorable. Gave me a ton of smiles and some other truly hilarious photos. You can see his session here: Wakefield Baby Photos. I was so excited to have him back in my studio for his out of this world 1st trip around the sun cake smash!

Choosing a Unique Cake Smash Theme

I love a good cake smash theme, as anyone who has read my blog knows. And this theme? Genius! Partially because I really do love a play on words. And partially because it’s so cute. For Mr. C’s cake smash session, mama went with a “1st trip around the sun” theme. I’ve had a few space themed cake smash sessions in the past. Whether it’s just a generic stars and moon theme. Or an astronaut theme. I’m definitely all here for it. But add in the idea of the 1st trip around the sun and I love this for a cake smash. After all, that trip around the sun is what we are celebrating for this milestone! The backdrop was full of really cool space themed balloons. But the majority of the theme was shown through Mr. C’s seriously cool NASA suit. The cake also helped sell the theme with planets and a rocket ship.
