Theme Ideas for Valentine’s Day Photo Sessions :: Andover MA Photographer

I love seasonal mini sessions. Part of my love for these sessions is how accessible they are for a large number of clients for whom a full session might not be the best option. But another thing I love about them is how creative they allow me to be. I offer these seasonal sessions a few times a year depending on holidays and seasons. The Christmas and Santa Claus experience have always been super popular. I recently started offering Christmas tree farm sessions during the holidays. In the fall it’s all about outdoor family sessions. In the summer there are beach sessions, in the spring Easter and Mommy and Me. And for late winter? It’s all about Valentine’s Day! And one of the most fun aspects of these sessions is coming up with set designs and props. These are two of my favorite themes for Valentine’s Day photo sessions.

Angel Wings (and Cupid’s Bow)

One of the coolest aspects of my job is definitely when clients keep coming back year after year. It means they trust me, and it means I get to connect with them and watch their babies grow. This is something I am incredibly grateful for, and honored by. This little redheaded beauty has been coming to my studio since her newborn session. However this blog post is just about her and her angel wings. Why? Because it’s my favorite thing ever, that’s why.

Like I mentioned, I offer seasonal mini sessions throughout the year. The theme and timing might change, but there are always at least a few options throughout the year. However starting in 2019 when I photographed this baby girl for a Valentine’s Day photo session with those angel wings on, I’ve been sure to run at least a few Valentine’s Day mini sessions every year since. her mama has them hung up and this year we got to add in her new baby brother! Not only is this a tradition for Miss J, but now it’s a whole family tradition–and a studio tradition, too.

The addition of Cupid’s bow makes this an especially pertinent for Valentine’s Day photo themes!

Kissing Booth

Another one of my favorite themes for Valentine’s Day photos? Kissing booth! This adorable preemie was in my studio for his newborn photos in early February 2019. This was after he got home from his 58 day stint in the NICU. I knew I had to pull out the kissing booth! And I am so glad that I did. We’ve now used the kissing booth three times for him and it was awesome to see the progression! The pout of kisses in the middle would be my favorite, if I didn’t also love the angel wings AND the plaid vest so much in the others. It’s a three way tie for my favorite kissing booth photo in the triptych!
