Outdoor North Andover Maternity Photos :: Pregnancy Photographer
Winter in New England famously involves frigid temperatures and fallen snow. Except this outdoor North Andover maternity photos session is here to remind us all that it doesn’t always mean that! These photos were taken in late February of 2020 and it was a balmy 60 degrees and absolutely stunning. At the time we thought the uncharacteristically warm weather was the most amazing and strangest thing to happen surrounding this session. Of course fast forward a few short weeks and Covid-19 hit. When their little boy arrived, I wasn’t able to photograph his newborn photos in the way I would have liked to. Instead I had to drive up to their house and photograph them and their son from 10 feet away, outdoors! I’m so grateful that we were able to take these absolutely stunning photos for this sweet couple to have to remember the happiness that existed during this time. I have since photographed Mr. G for his 3 month photos, which was able to be a more traditional session!

Choosing Outdoor Locations for Maternity Photos
When it comes to maternity photos, you really can’t go wrong with studio or outdoor photos. And there are far less variables to consider for maternity pictures than for family or baby/child portraits. Unless their are older siblings coming along for photos, then all you have to consider is the parents. Which means that what it comes down to is how comfortable will you be? In this case, it was a sunny winter day. But of course as well all know, you can’t always guarantee that any day in New England will be warm and sunny. If you’re okay taking the gamble, then I am 100% on board with an outdoor maternity session. And don’t think that just because it’s outside that means you can’t have glamour and glitz. I have a large assortment of maternity gowns and I am more than happy to bring a few along with me for outfit changes. Of course with many outdoor locations that will mean having to get creative to change. But my assistant and I are known to get a little crafty in these instances!
