Mr. N’s Cake Smash Photos :: Chelmsford Baby Photographer
It’s time to celebrate! Mr. N came to my studio from my nearby hometown of Chelmsford MA to celebrate his first birthday with some cake smash photos. When it comes to first birthday sessions there are typically two different types of sessions. The first is a full session which includes portraits of baby (and possibly family). These can be simple or stylized and including props. And then after those portraits, it’s all about the cake smash. However some parents prefer to get right to the fun part and stick with just a cake smash mini session. This is exactly what Mr. N’s mama decided to go with. Whether you’re looking for the whole kit and caboodle or just a fun cake smash, I’ve got you covered!

Styling Cake Smash Sessions
Cake smash sessions are all about having fun and celebrating. Which is why they are the perfect time to get a little crazy and colorful. Whether that means going all out with a fun theme, or keeping it simple is up to you. Over my years photographing first birthday photo sessions, I have photographed everything from the most plain and simple of sessions to the most outrageous and decorated sets. And they are all fun and special in their own way. For this cake smash, mama wanted “bright but with simple colors”. Using blues and grays in the form of balloons and precious bunting is a great way to incorporate color without going too overboard with props. And Mr. N’s gray-blue cake matched the balloons perfectly. Balloons are always a good idea, in my opinion.
