Lowell MA Newborn Photographer :: Mr. N

This little guy and his family came to my studio in Andover, MA from nearby Lowell for his newborn photography session. More often than not during a newborn session, baby stays asleep and blissfully unaware of what is going on. Not the case for this little guy! But even wide awake he totally rocked his newborn portraits. And how gorgeous are his big brown eyes? Swoon-worthy for sure.

Sometimes, babies just don’t want to sleep during their Lowell area newborn photos. We keep the studio at a very toast 80 plus degrees, have a white noise machine going at all times (our secret weapon is our Baby Shusher and we swear by it!), and keep the lights down low. But baby is boss, and if he wants to stay awake the whole time, there isn’t much we can do about it. But don’t stress about if this happens. Mr. N is proof that it will all be alright!

Styling Choices for this Lowell MA Newborn Photo Session
There are so many different aspects of my job that are fun and rewarding. Getting to snuggle babies is definitely up there. But getting to capture these photos for the family, knowing how much they will cherish them, is number one. And part of that is customizing the photos to their preference. For some families that means colorful, for some that means keeping them more neutral.

For these Lowell newborn photos, mom and dad opted for neutrals. The blue pompom on this cozy winter hat is the only real pop of color on Mr. N throughout the session. These portraits are a great example of how neutral can still lend itself to variety. In this session I used whites and creams, grays, and shades of brown. But there wasn’t just variety throughout the session as a whole. In this first photo, for example, there are at least four different shades of brown. And the variety doesn’t end there. Wood, fur, and soft knits are all different textures and create contrast as well. Even a monochromatic look can be full of visual interest thanks to contrast.
