Mr. C’s One Year Portraits and Cake Smash Photos in Lawrence MA
Mr. C and his family came to my studio from nearby Lawrence to celebrate his first birthday with some family portraits and for some cake smash photos. Mr. C was so sweet and totally rocked his portraits. We started off the session with some family portraits. I tend to start off sessions this way to make sure that everyone, especially the birthday boy, is comfortable in the studio and with my assistant and me. Once I managed to grab some great photos of Mr. C with each parent and some of the whole family, it was all about Mr. C. He kept us all smiling and laughing throughout the photos. I love the black and white family portrait towards the bottom of this post. The whole family looks so happy!

Styling Inspiration From This Cake Smash Session
Cake smash sessions are so much fun. They’re truly a time to celebrate. Which means that when it comes to the styling for cake smash sessions, anything goes. These sessions are the great for incorporating themes, too. Whether it’s a favorite book, television show, or character. Or maybe just a certain aesthetic or color scheme. My team and I love being able to create a custom cake smash set for each client. For this Lawrence cake smash photo session, it was all about white. And I LOVE how it turned out. The monochromatic trend is definitely something I can get behind. The balloons created depth in the backdrop instead of letting it be completely flat white behind Mr. C. This is a great option for family who want something clean and timeless.
The “One” cake topper also adds a little sparkle and contrast in these Lawrence cake smash photos. These little decorations can take a cake smash set from pretty to perfect. I have a pretty extensive collection of accessories in the studio. But if you want something extra special, I always recommend starting with Etsy!
For more cake smash ideas, check out our Cake Smash Bucket List from 2019. It’s full of theme ideas I’ve already used in cake smash portrait sessions, and some other ideas I would love to try some day. I have even started compiling some of the themes I have photographed in the past, which you can see here: Cake Smash Themes. And don’t forget to check out our Cake Smash Pinterest board, too!
Displaying Your Portraits At Home
After any session, it’s time to choose prints and products! This can seem like a daunting task for some parents. However, it is my job as your Lawrence area baby and family photographer to help in whatever way I can. Whether that means walking you through all of your options over email or on the phone. Or creating a custom mock-up of a fine art album. Or even creating a custom wall art mock-up using your photos on your wall. Below is an example from this Lawrence cake smash photo session. Your mock-up will include a photo you send me of your walls and the photos from your session. No more guessing how your framed artwork or canvases will look!
