Boston Newborn Portraits :: New Baby Boy L

Baby Boy L and his parents came to my studio from Boston for his newborn session. Mr. L was actually 2 months old when I photographed him for his Boston newborn portraits. He was born early, so I had to wait a little while to meet him. Mom writes “Luca is a preemie and spent 1 month (a day shy of a month) in the NICU at Brigham and Women. We think he is the strongest, most resilient and of course special little boy.” I agree!

As a mom it hurts my heart whenever I hear about preemies spending prolonged periods of time in the NICU. But how lucky are we to have such amazing hospitals near us?

I love that mom and dad chose to feature Superman in L’s newborn photos. He’s a perfect companion for this little guy who was born early but has been so strong. Clearly Superman has nothing on Mr. L!

Using Props and Accessories in Newborn Photos

I always encourage parents to bring accessories and props into the studio with them for their Boston newborn portraits. I have a lot of options here, but nothing compares to one brought from home! There’s something extra sweet about a newborn portrait that includes something your little one can grow alongside.

Over the years I’ve had everything from toys and blankets, to jewelry and books brought into the studio to be included in the portraits. Each time it’s a challenge to find a way to incorporate it, but it’s a challenge that I love!

Their pup couldn’t come to the session but they wanted to include him somehow. So you’ll notice a portrait below with a stuffed little puppy at the end of baby L’s bed as an honor to their “first child.”

Family Portraits During Newborn Sessions

Not only is your new baby reason to celebrate, but your new and bigger family is, too! Whether you’re having your first, or welcoming a new addition, family portraits are a great idea. And I am more than happy to include some family photos during your Boston newborn portrait session. Celebrate the love of your family and have a keepsake you’ll always remember.
