Somerville New Baby Portraits :: Mr. E
If you scoot back a couple of blog posts you can see this family’s outdoor maternity session, including big brother, pre newborn baby boy. Now that he is here, Mr. E from Somerville came to visit my studio with his family. And Mr. E gave me a wide eyed stare when I was taking the sibling shots. Two little ones looking straight into the camera?! Double rainbow for sure! Little dude E was much more alert than a lot of newborns are throughout his session, which meant more than one glimpse of his big blue eyes. The hilarious thing is, his older brother was completely wide eyed during his session! Mr. E did sleep a lot more compared to big bro. The one of him in the bed is definitely a favorite.
Throwback Styling For A Second Child’s Newborn Session
For their second child’s portraits, some parents want to style it completely different from the first. Some, want to include some throwback elements to the first child’s session. For this session, like big brother’s, the main colors used were blue and gray. I love the way that the different shades of gray look together. And I especially love the way the different textures play off of one another. This is one way that a monochromatic color scheme can still have variety. The photo below of Mr. E in the bed is another example of how sometimes using all one color can look fantastic, even without a huge variety in texture.
With newborn photography, there’s less pressure for mom and dad to choose an outfit for baby, since most of the time the little one is either naked or swaddled. But sometimes, there’s a little something extra. In this case, that meant the truly adorable bear snuggie Mr. E’s wearing in the first photo. This is the same one his older brother made an appearance in! So cool to be able to compare the two. Plus, there’s already something adorable about a new baby snuggled up in a knit blanket, but add some bear ears and it’s beyond cute.
We also made a nod to one of mom and dad’s favorite newborn portraits of their first child. It was the baby all wrapped up in a nest. But rather do the exact same shot we changed up the colors for a slightly different look.
