Andover Family Photos :: The S Family

I’ve talked before in blog posts about how some families have become “my” families, because I’ve been photographing them for so long. This family is definitely one of those! The first time I photographed them was in 2011 and the girls, E and A, were 4 and 2. Now look at them! I’ve been lucky enough to meet up with this family from Andover every Fall for family portraits, and it’s a session I look forward to every year.

This family is so much fun! The entire session is basically spent playing games and having fun. And there is always so much laughing. There are always at least a couple silly photos, and they usually end up being some of my all time favorites. By the end of the session, the girls usually take a few photos with my camera (I might have some competition in 20 years). Both E and A are accomplished gymnasts, as can be seen in the last photo. I love that this family is able to have so much fun, and that it truly shows through in their portraits. The kids are able to act like kids, and their true personalities shine.

What to wear for Fall Family Photos

Fall in New England is absolutely gorgeous. And I’m so lucky that I get to meet up with families every Fall for their portraits. Outdoor photo sessions are always some of my favorites, especially in the Fall. The colors are spectacular. But, the added colors definitely can make it a little more difficult to choose what to wear. It’s already tricky to coordinate outfits for a whole family, and it gets trickier the more people are involved. Add into that all the beautiful colors of Fall, and it can be overwhelming. Over the years I’ve come up with some foolproof tips and tricks for families. This blog post is a great resource for families.

One of the most important things, regardless of the season or backdrop, is choosing clothing that is timeless, comfortable, and natural for the kids to be wearing. That’s the route this family went, and I think it works perfectly. All three of the kids look comfortable in what they’re wearing. And the pop of pink against the browns, greens, and yellows works great.

Displaying Your Artwork At Home

Chances are, either you grew up with your stairway lined with portraits of yourself and your siblings, or you can picture someone’s house who did. Am I right? Whether it was baby photos, the latest school picture, or a professional portrait. I have a soft spot for that kind of thing, I’ll admit. And how adorable would the solo shots of each of these three kids look as a canvas lining the staircase? Thanks to technology, you don’t have to just imagine it. Below is a mock-up of just that very thing. Did you know we offer these mock-ups for our clients? My team and I can use a photo of your own walls and create a custom mock-up so that you can see what a wall gallery will look like in your home!
