North Shore, MA Cake Smash Photos :: Miss A’s First Birthday
Miss A and her family came to my North Shore studio for her cake smash photos. I’ve been photographing this little lady and her big brother since he was just one year old. And mama was pregnant with this little lady! Cake smash sessions are always so much fun, but there is a little added fun for me when it’s a little one I’ve seen grow from a tiny baby into a one year old. For the first part of this session, I focused on family portraits, sibling portraits, and some solo shots of Miss A and also her big brother by himself. I always start with these before the real (and messy!) fun starts. And by this, I of course mean the cake portion!
As an added bonus for the family portrait session, we were joined by Miss A’s grandparents. Grandparents are such special people and any time I get to celebrate that special bond, I jump at the chance. I think it’s safe to say everyone involved will treasure those pictures!
One of the best things about this North Shore cake smash session is how expressive Miss A’s face is. Especially in the last shot from the cake smash. We’ve all been there. Just done! But this is such an adorable (and hilarious) shot, and so realistic. I love when I get to capture the reality of the situation. These shots are usually some of the favorites, even if they aren’t the smiley, happy ones.
Styling For This North Shore First Birthday Photo Cake Smash Session
For the portrait portion of this session, Miss A had a few different outfits. One was the truly adorable sailor outfit. This coordinated well with big brother’s outfit while still standing out on its own. She also had a precious pink dress. Both of these outfits were great choices because they were classic and simple.
For Miss A’s cake smash it was all about the perfect cake smash combination: tutu, balloons, and a glittery party hat. I have balloons and a helium tank in my studio, not to mention an assortment of party props. One less thing for parents to worry about.
Cake Smash sessions are some of the most fun we have in the studio. Sometimes, the sessions are classic and timeless. Other times they’re detailed and themed. Either way, my team and I love them. Which is why we created a Cake Smash Bucket List in 2019. See more fun cake smash ideas there, and on our Cake Smash Pinterest board!
