If you’ve ever experienced a newborn photo shoot in my studio, there’s a good chance you’ve heard the Baby Shusher at work. And if you haven’t yet, you don’t know what you’re missing! This is one of my most used (and most treasured) assets when it comes to calming a newborn and helping them to stay asleep during their session.
They call themselves “The Sleep Miracle” and believe me when I say it really is a miracle worker! Of course the dimmed lights and heat up high during a newborn photo shoot definitely contribute to the calm environment, but once the Shusher is at work the studio becomes the perfect place to sleep. Yes, I’ve even had parents fall asleep.
People have been talking about white noise machines since they were first invented, and some people might think that all of these machines are created equal. But this one is by far the best one I have ever used. I used to use an app on my phone during newborn photo sessions which would, of course, drain the battery. Not only does the Shusher use the perfect “shush” sound (that sounds human!). But the Shusher is also small, light, and easily portable. And the bright orange makes it easy to find quickly. Being able to grab it as soon as it goes silent is important during newborn photo shoots. It’s also super important at night when trying to get a baby back to sleep.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many parents have left the studio saying they were going to buy a Baby Shusher for themselves — or who have bought one online before they’ve even left!
