Medford MA Newborn Photographer :: Little Guy O

Mr. O and his parents came to my Andover, MA studio from their home in Medford for his newborn photos. Before coming to Andover I had a studio in Medford for years so it’s always fun to meet families from my old stomping grounds!

This was my first time getting to meet this little guy and his sweet parents, but it wasn’t the last. I saw them again not too long ago for Mr. O’s cake smash!

Newborn Photo Styling Ideas

For Mr. O’s session, the colors were kept simple and neutral. Mom and dad were both in plain black shirts for the family portraits, which allowed for Mr. O to stand out in his light gray swaddle. This is a great styling choice for simple, clean photos. For the solo shots of Mr. O I continued the gray from the family portraits but introduced different shades. The darker gray fur creates contrast and adds interest to the photo–and I love the way the light shines against the fur.

I also used different shades of dark blue. I especially love the way the dark blue looks against the dark brown of the wooden crate and floor. The use of gray and blue are great examples of how dark colors can absolutely work for newborn sessions. Not everyone loves light colors, and that’s totally fine, newborn photos definitely do not need light colors.
