Stoneham Newborn Photos :: Baby Boy E
Mr. E and his family came from Stoneham to my studio for his newborn portraits. I love looking at these photos because this little guy and his family were just back in the studio for his cake smash! It’s crazy how fast time flies!
We started off the session with family portraits. This is the way I usually begin sessions so that the whole family can get comfortable with the studio and with the process of getting pictures taken. When it comes to newborn portraits, this is more about making sure mom and dad comfortable. Plus, once the family portraits are completed mom and dad can relax while my assistant and I focus on the real star of the show: the new baby!
This session was in early December, so mom and dad requested a little touch of Christmas. Is February too early in the year to be nostalgic for Christmas??
Newborn Portrait Styling Ideas
For Mr. E’s newborn portraits, the colors were kept mostly neutral. I stress mostly because there were a few different pops of color. Subtle pops of color are a great way to create variety in your gallery. In this gallery, there are a variety of options for mom and dad to choose from. It’s a good idea to think about where the portraits are going to be displayed. Will they be surrounded by other pops of color? Will the room be entirely neutral?
In the studio I have a variety of wraps, furs, and blankets. This means that pretty much any color scheme is possible. For Mr. E, the pops of color came in the form of wraps. For the portraits of Mr. E with his parents, the light blue swaddle contrasted perfectly with the dark shirts mom and dad were wearing. In the solo shots of Mr. E, a yellow swaddle peeks out from dark blue. Dark blue is a great neutral color, and it goes with so many different colors. I love the way the light yellow looks next to it.
Another great way to get a pop of color into a newborn session is using personal and sentimental touches from home. In this case mom and dad brought along the adorable quilt seen below. Mr. E looks so cozy all tucked in!
