Welcoming families back year after year is one of the most rewarding parts of being a baby photographer. When Miss S visited the studio for her 3 month baby photos, it felt especially meaningful because I had previously photographed her big sister, Miss J, for her cake smash session. Now four and a half years old, Miss J stepped into her role as big sister beautifully. This session included sweet sibling portraits, mommy and me photographs, individual portraits of both girls, and plenty of time focused on documenting Miss S’s unique personality at this stage. Celebrating milestones with baby led photography near Chelmsford MA is one of the reasons I love being an Andover infant photographer.
For families searching for baby milestone photography near Chelmsford MA, this session is a wonderful example of how much variety we can create during a full studio session.
Every 3 Month Milestone Looks Different
One thing I always tell parents is that there is no single “correct” way for a baby to look or behave at three months old. Some babies arrive ready to show off big smiles, strong tummy time skills, and lots of eye contact. Others are still very tiny and curl naturally into poses that remind parents of their newborn days.
Miss S was petite for her age, which allowed us to create some beautiful swaddled portraits that many parents associate with newborn photography at her Chelmsford area infant photography session. At the same time, we also captured awake images that highlighted her expressions and growing personality.
This is one reason I love milestone sessions. They are completely baby led. Rather than forcing a baby into a predetermined plan, we follow their comfort level and developmental stage. The result is a gallery that reflects who they are right now, whether that means sleepy, cuddly newborn style portraits or bright eyed baby milestone photographs full of expression.

Coordinated Outfits Create Beautiful Variety
A full baby photography session offers more variety than many parents expect. For Miss S’s session, we planned several coordinated looks that complemented the entire family while still feeling natural and timeless.
One outfit featured a soft floral pattern in pink and orange tones that coordinated beautifully with mom’s top and Miss J’s dress. The warm colors brought a light, cheerful feeling to the images and worked especially well for the family and sibling portraits.
For the second look, Miss S wore a floral outfit in shades of teal, green, and blue. Miss J changed into a coordinating dress, creating a completely different feel while maintaining a cohesive look throughout the gallery. These simple wardrobe changes helped create a collection of images that felt diverse without requiring anything overly complicated.

Sweet Sibling Photos with Big Sister
Sibling portraits are often a highlight of infant photography sessions. Miss J was incredibly gentle with her baby sister, and it was clear how proud she was of her new role. Some of my favorite images from the session include the girls snuggled together on a soft cream fur blanket and another where Miss J carefully held her baby sister while surrounded by cozy pillows.
We also captured individual portraits of Miss J, giving mom photographs of both daughters at this special stage in their lives. Years from now, these sibling photographs will likely become some of the family’s most treasured images because they document the beginning of a relationship that will continue to grow and change over time.

Mommy and Me Portraits at Three Months
The mommy and me photographs from this session are another reminder that milestone sessions are about more than developmental achievements. At three months old, babies are already changing so quickly. Tiny features become more defined, expressions emerge, and parents often realize just how fast those newborn weeks have disappeared.
The portraits of mom and Miss S together captured that connection beautifully. We also made time for a few photographs of mom and Miss J, creating a gallery that celebrated both daughters and the unique bond each child shares with their mother.

Newborn-Inspired Styling for a Tiny Three-Month-Old
For Miss S’s swaddled 3 month baby photos, we used a palette of soft purple tones paired with cream colored fur, a chunky knit blanket, and a delicate lace style basket. The combination of textures added visual interest while keeping the focus exactly where it belonged: on the baby.
These images are a perfect example of why milestone photography is customized for every child. While some babies outgrow swaddled portraits by three months, others still enjoy being wrapped snugly and photographed in a way that highlights their tiny size. The goal is never to fit a baby into a specific milestone checklist. The goal is to create photographs that feel authentic to that baby and that family.

Planning Your Baby Milestone Session
Many parents schedule milestone baby photos around the 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year marks because each stage brings something completely different.
A 3 month baby photoshoot often captures emerging expressions, sweet family connections, and those lingering newborn features that disappear far too quickly. For families in Chelmsford, Andover, North Andover, and surrounding Boston area communities, these infant photography sessions are a wonderful way to document the rapid changes that happen during baby’s first year.
