Ideas and Inspiration for Beachy Maternity Portraits :: Haverhill MA Photographer
Typically when it comes to portrait sessions it’s either an outdoor location OR an in-studio session. This client was a longtime client of mine and I happened to have some extra time in my schedule so we did both–best of both worlds! There is a travel fee for situations like this, but I am so glad that we were able to come up with something that worked for both of us. Because both halves of this session are so gorgeous. The in-studio session was full of dark wood, moody lighting, and glamour. The beachside photos were full of cotton candy skies and sandy toes. Styling for Pregnancy Photography Sessions
When it comes to styling for maternity portrait sessions, there are a few different options. Some mamas prefer going casual. Some prefer to use one of my many maternity gowns I have in my studio (or purchasing their own). And then of course there are the nude or nude-ish options. Lace or silk draped over the belly to create a very artsy and gorgeous look. I truly believe there is no wrong choice, it’s all about what each individual mom is looking for. For the beachy portion of this session, mom wore a beautiful pale pink that matched the pink in the sunset skies. And since her husband wore a light blue shirt and big sister was in white, this color scheme was a perfect match for the beachy sunset vibes of these maternity portraits.
For the indoor photos it was more glamorous with a flowy white gown that looked stunning in front of the dark wooden backdrop. And for good measure, some nude portraits as well. I especially love how these look in black and white. The light and shadows are stunning in black and white! All in all the styling of this session was beautiful and definitely one to look at for inspiration for both beachy outdoor AND glamorous indoor maternity portraits.
