One Year Photos For Miss L :: Boston MA Photographer

I love the sweet simplicity of these one year photos. Miss L and her mama came to my studio from Boston to celebrate Miss L’s first birthday with some portraits. Sometimes these sessions include a cake smash. But for this session, mom opted to skip the cake and get some beautiful photos of Miss L. Utilizing both the dark wood backdrop and a seamless white paper background and very few props and accessories, I love how these Boston one year photos came out. And I cannot possibly choose a favorite, I love so many. The one of Miss L waving (hello Queen of England!) is definitely in the running. As is the one of Miss L pushing her toy. I really, really love how the colors of her toy pop against the white background and white of Miss L’s outfit.

There is one photo in this bunch that is very sentimental. The black and white portrait below of Miss L and her mama. This was a special request from mama to recreate a photo she had of herself as a baby with her own mother. Mom and baby, cheeks together, staring into the camera. I love how the photo looks in general. But when given a more “high key” look to it, it’s stunning. High Key is a photography term that describes when a photo has a lot of light and very little shadows. These photos are very bright, giving them an airy, glowy quality to them. In this case it gives this photo a vintage vibe to it while still keeping it bright and modern. A great ode to the original photo of mom and her mom!
