Purple and Gold Cake Smash Photos for Miss I :: Westborough MA Photographer
This adorable little lady and her family came to my studio from Westborough MA to celebrate her first birthday with some photos. We started off with some portraits of the family of four. I love that they went with a mix of casual clothes with Miss I in a more formal option. They kept the color palette on the dusty/neutral side which created a nice overall look. Then came sibling photos of Miss I and her big brother. And the photos of her holding his fingers while she stands–beyond precious! When there are age gaps between siblings like in this case, it can make for some really sweet sibling portraits. Whether the younger sibling is brand new, or celebrating a milestone like in this case. Some birthday portraits of Miss I in another beautiful dress came next. And then it was time for her purple cake smash photos!
Choosing a Color Scheme for First Birthday Celebration Photos
Cake smash sessions are all about celebrating. Which means they are the perfect time to get creative and colorful. Choosing a color scheme for cake smash photos can either be tricky or super easy depending on how well you know what you like. If you’re not sure about what to do, and don’t have a set theme idea in mind, the best way to narrow it down is by looking at other cake smash sessions. Pinterest is of course an ideal place to begin. Instagram and Etsy are other options. Search for cake smash and see what you like! There are some color palettes that are classics (blue for boys, pink for girls). But don’t be afraid to get creative!
For Miss I’s cake smash it was all about shades of purple with some pops of gold. I love how the different shades of purple balloons look. The lighter shades are soft and pretty. And the brighter, bolder shades offset them beautifully. Add in the pops of gold (gold goes with everything!) and it’s perfect. Miss I’s purple dress matches wonderfully. Pop a butterfly on the cake and it’s the perfect celebration cake!
