What to Wear for Spring Photos

Styling Guide for What to Wear to Your Spring Photos Session

Spring is a great time of year to update family and child photos. Whether you’re coming to my spring outdoor mini session, or just having a full spring session on your own. But as always, deciding on clothes can be tricky for child and family photos. It’s a bit easier for child portrait sessions where you don’t have to coordinate an entire family. Either way, I try to always help out my clients to make sessions as easy and stress-free as possible. Which is the reason why I love these what to wear posts, and today’s is for spring photos! I’ve included some photos from last year’s spring sessions, both in studio and outdoors for inspiration.

As always I also included some outfits and clothing ideas with links to give you a good starting place. Remember: comfort is key! Kiddos will be way happier if they’re comfortable and you’ll see it in the portraits. And if you are having an outdoor session, remember that it’s New England and weather can change by the second. Layers, layers, layers! Keep scrolling for all your spring photo styling needs.

Styling Ideas for Spring Portraits for Boys

When it comes to styling spring portraits for boys, there are a few different ways you can go. Some parents like to take advantage of a portrait session by having their kiddos dress up. Whether that means a button down shirt and trousers or a full suit (the linen suits in particular just make me smile!). Or you can absolutely go more casual with linens, plaids, chambray, and pastels. Below are some great pieces that can serve as inspiration for you!

Styling Inspiration for Spring Pictures for Girls

When I think of spring I think flowers, pastels, birds, and gardens. So it’s no surprise I used those as inspiration for these spring looks for girls. When it comes to styling any child session, it’s important that your little one is comfortable. So make sure they’re warm, not wearing anything that’s itchy or tight, and that they’re happy! Below are some great pieces I found that range from neutral and simple to bright and quirky. If you’re having a spring photo session this year, consider pieces like these for your little ladies.
