Mr. D’s Fun and Festive Fall Themed Cake Smash :: South Hamilton MA Photographer
I first met this little man for his newborn photos, which made me even more excited to celebrate his birthday with him! Mr. D celebrated his fall birthday with a fun and festive themed cake smash session in my studio. But as much as this session was about celebrating his birthday, that wasn’t all we did. One of the great things about fall birthdays when it comes to professional portrait sessions is getting the chance to take advantage of the session and take some holiday photos as well. In this case, we did this really sweet set up with a Santa’s Cookies jar, a plate of cookies and some milk, and obviously one very cute baby. This little set up of Mr. D “stealing” Santa’s cookies was beyond adorable. And it worked out well when we transitioned to the fall themed cake smash, too.
What Happens When Baby Won’t Eat Their Cake?
As crazy as it is to think about, sometimes babies really have no interest in eating their smash cake. Over the years I’ve learned that a lot of times it’s because they really don’t know what it is, not many have had cake before this! Hiding cheerios or other snacks can be a way to get those traditional “smash” photos. In this case, Mr. D loved the cookies from the Christmas photos. So we just brought them over to him and he happily snacked on some cookies instead! This cake smash was fun and on theme for a fall birthday. Fall leaves, a sweet birch tree cake, and shades of brown and orange made for a perfect fall themed cake smash.
