Big Group Extended Family Photos :: Andover Christmas Photographer
I got the chance to photograph this extended family a few years ago on the tree farm. One of the couples and babies I have photographed quite a few times over the years. They also happen to be my neighbors! But getting the chance to not only meet, but also photograph, mom’s siblings and parents was such a treat. The whole group consisted of the parents/grandparents, their two sons and daughter, plus daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. At the time the youngest grandchild was only a few weeks old. I love getting to take extended family photos, and I know that this family will cherish these portraits for years to come.
When it comes to big group portrait sessions like this one, it’s important to make sure that not only am I photographing the group as a whole but also getting all the different smaller groups. This means photographing each family unit on it’s own. Plus getting grandparents with just their grandchildren. And those same grandparents with just their own children. I grabbed some sibling shots of just the grown siblings (it’s always fun to see how sibling dynamics come out even in adults). And of course I snapped some photos of the matriarch and patriarch of the family on their own.
These big group extended family portraits are so much fun and such a great way to capture memories and create keepsakes. They also make wonderful gift ideas! For more family photos check out my Family Photo Ideas Pinterest board!
