I met up with this sweet family from Dracut MA last fall for some family portraits. Fall is such a gorgeous time of year in New England. People travel from all over to come check out our foliage, so why not take advantage of it in photographs?
Every year, the fall is the busiest time for family portraits, and it’s easy to see why. This sweet family was so much fun to photograph. One of the best parts of taking family portraits outside is that the little ones get to run around and use up some of their energy. They’re having so much fun it’s easy to capture some great smiles. Check out the smile on Mr. M as his dad makes him fly through the air! And it’s not just the kiddos who smile big during these sessions. Mom and Dad have huge smiles too. Smiling and laughter is contagious!

Styling for These Dracut Fall Family Portraits
Fall is gorgeous, and so are the colors. This can make it seem a little overwhelming when deciding what to wear for a family portrait. Since there are so many colors in the background, a good choice is going with neutrals. Mom and Dad are both in muted shades that match the colors of nature around them. And Mr. M looks beyond adorable in his vest. Layering is always a good idea for outdoor portraits. When it comes to weather in New England it’s always best to prepare for anything!
The most important thing to remember when choosing looks for family portraits, no matter what time of year, is comfort! Especially for little ones. If they aren’t comfortable in what they’re wearing they definitely won’t be happy. Mr. M looks cute, comfy, and his outfit is perfect for Fall.
