Miss L’s First Birthday Cake Smash Photos :: Bradford Photographer

I loved getting to celebrate Miss L’s first birthday with her. And what better way to celebrate than with some Bradford cake smash photos? While little Miss has a big brother, this session was all about the birthday girl. And oh man did she rock this session! She was so fun and happy the entire time. And the actual eating cake portion of the session can be pretty hit or miss–and this little lady loved her cake! She’s my kind of girl for sure.

We started with some solo portraits of Miss L in some seriously stylish outfits. I love the way that the pink and gold looks against the dark backdrop that I have in my studio. I also really love the contrast of the white balloons against the dark wood. Then it was time for the cake smash! And if you need some girly, floral cake smash inspiration, look no further!

Styling for First Birthday & Cake Smash Pictures

Before any session I send along a styling questionnaire. This helps me get a good idea of any props or accessories that I will pull aside to have during the session. It’s also a good starting point for parents who aren’t 100% sure about what they want to do for the styling of a session. In this case, mama had a pretty set color scheme in mind. The rose gold tutu/headband combo as well as the sparkly dress were mentioned in the questionnaire. But when it came to overall aesthetic mama mentioned “light pinks, pastels, pearls, florals” and I think it’s safe to say we definitely made that aesthetic happen! I love the floral garland behind Miss L during her cake smash. It’s the perfect blend of feminine, boho, and classy. And add in some pearls and a tutu and it is truly a girl’s dream cake smash!
