Whimsical Digital Newborn Portraits

Whimsical Newborn Portraits Using Digital Backdrops

Spring and Summer 2020 — Chances are, if you have just given birth or if you are getting ready to, you have a lot of questions and worries taking up space in your mind these days. This has been a stressful and scary time for everyone, and for new parents, all that stress increases exponentially. As a newborn photographer, and as a mother, I can’t stop thinking about my clients and all the other new parents out there. Those early newborn days are so precious, and also so fleeting. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job as a newborn and baby portrait photographer is knowing that I am able to capture these moments for new parents. The fact that I am unable to do that right now is weighing heavy on my heart.

In trying times, finding a bit of whimsy and fun can be difficult, but it is also so important. And there are so many ways to create whimsical newborn portraits. One of those ways is by using digital backdrops. I have used these digital backdrops in the past for newborn sessions in my studio. Which gave me an idea. Why not use these digital backdrops to create newborn portraits for those who are unable to get their babies photographed in person?

These are a great option for families that are being impacted by the virus.

How It Works

As a new parent, you have enough to worry about, so I’m going to make the process as easy for you as I can! All I need is a photo of your little one’s face. I can walk you through this via video conference to make it even easier. This way I can help you get your baby in the right position and lighting to make sure their sweet face can be digitally added to one of the backdrops. Then, choose the digital backdrop you want, and your work is done.

Do you have a book, movie, or theme that you want to include? Chances are there’s a digital backdrop for you. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Safari, Woodland Fairy. The choices are just about endless. Search on Pinterest or Etsy to see more examples.

Fun Digital Composites For Bigger Kids

Worried that your little one isn’t going to be able to take part in all of the fun because they’re not a newborn? Worry no more! Because I am also offering digital composite portraits for bigger kids. It works more or less in the same way, except instead of just needing a photo of their face, I need one of them posed in a certain way. Depending on which digital composite you choose, that could mean standing, sitting, or laying down. Thankfully it’s a bit easier to work with older kids than newborns when it comes to posing (in theory anyway!)
