Merrimack Valley Newborn Photography :: Baby M
Baby girl M and her parents came to my Merrimack Valley studio for her newborn photography session. She was absolutely adorable, and such a delight to photograph. She also brought along her fur-sibling. Miss M got a few kisses from mama and daddy to start the session. And she even gave mama a tiny hint of a smile (the coolest!). For the most part, Miss M slept soundly, but I did get a few shots of her gorgeous eyes. This can actually be super rare to get a good awake shot of a newborn, so I always feel like it’s a unicorn sighting.

Styling Choices For This Merrimack Valley Baby Girl’s Newborn Portraits
For this newborn photo session, the main colors chosen were pink and purple. I threw in some brown with the pink because I love the way that these colors work together. The pink adds the perfect girly touch, while the brown is perfectly neutral and earthy. A good thing for parents to keep in mind when thinking about color schemes, is that there are other ways to add contrast to photos without using too many colors. Different textures and fabrics next to one another can create such a great variety. I love the way a chunky knit fabric looks next to a soft fur, even if they’re the same color.
To add a little pop against the neutral colors and swaddles, I used a few different accessories. Headbands are always a perfect choice for newborn sessions–and I have quite the assortment in my studio. Both the twine and rosette headband in the first photo, and the pink and green floral one below, add the perfect pop of color, while still being sweet and dainty. Hats are also a go to choice and the sweet white bonnet adds a perfect cozy touch. But perhaps the best accessory from this session is the brown hat with different colored flowers. It’s not only beautiful, it also adds the perfect pop of color. For adorable handmade accessories, I always start on Etsy.
Also, did I mention how much I loved this family and this baby girl!? This first shot below is one I couldn’t live without. So I made it the photo cover of my latest fine art album sample in the studio.
Displaying Your Newborn Portraits
Maybe you want a classic gallery wrapped canvas hanging above your little one’s crib. Or maybe you want to create a work of art in your living room using portraits of your baby. Either way, we are here to help. My team and I can walk you through every different print and product option from wall art to albums. And if wall art is something you are interested in, we can even create a mock-up to show you what your photos will look like on your walls. If this is something you would like, email me so I can get the process started and talk you through taking a picture of your walls!
