Brookline Newborn Photography by Crabapple Photography
This little Brookline beauty was a dream to photograph! She was 17 days old when I met her. Seventeen. In newborn photography, the “rule” is to try and get your fresh baby in for their portraits in under 2 weeks. There are good reasons for this including a usually very sleepy baby and less chance of baby acne and blotchy skin. But sometimes this just isn’t possible. It doesn’t mean you need to completely forgo your baby’s newborn portraits. Beautiful baby A is a perfect example of that! She was a complete rockstar and slept the entire session. Possibly better than some 7 day old baby’s I’ve photographed. What helped with the success of this session was Mom’s close attention paid on how to prep for the session (I send this to all newborn clients). We also had zero expectations of getting a sleepy baby. Voila!
About this Session
Mama mentioned her baby girl’s nursery has soft pink walls with white trimmings. I made sure to incorporate different shades of pinks in the styling of this session. I used a dusty pink as a background for her curled up, sleepy posed portraits. Yes, curled up and sleeping at seventeen days! I also created a gray and pink combination set. We used this for curled up shots of baby girl on her back and snuggling with a little teddy bear. We even used a hot pink hat as an accessory in one of her shots on a neutral background! Mom mentioned to me she liked not only neutral, but vibrant colors. So I tried my best to customize the session to her taste. We were also sure to get a light and bright background shot of baby girl on a prop with some purple splashes. We also got a very loving shot of of baby girl snuggled in her Mom’s arms with Dad’s arms right there as support. I absolutely loved this session!
