There are so many important milestones during a baby’s first year, but one of the most meaningful traditions I photograph for families is the 100 day baby celebration. For generations, families around the world have celebrated a baby reaching one hundred days of life. Historically, reaching this milestone carried tremendous significance, marking survival through the earliest and most fragile stage of infancy. Which is why traditional 100 day milestone baby photos like the ones from this Waltham session are so important.
Even today, many families continue honoring this beautiful tradition through family gatherings and milestone portraits that preserve this special moment. This session featured baby O and her wonderful family celebrating this meaningful milestone together.

The Meaning Behind Traditional 100 Day Baby Photos
Historically, the first one hundred days of life represented a major turning point for both mother and baby. In earlier generations, infant and maternal survival rates were far less certain, making this milestone something truly worth celebrating.
While modern medicine has changed so much, I still find something incredibly meaningful about families intentionally slowing down to recognize just how extraordinary these early days truly are. The first hundred days often pass in a blur of sleepless nights, constant growth, and rapid change. Taking time to document this stage feels incredibly special.

Capturing Baby Personality At Three Months Old
One of the things I love about photographing babies at this age is that personality is beginning to emerge. Baby O arrived absolutely full of smiles.
She gave us so many wonderful expressions throughout the beginning of her session, allowing us to create a beautiful variety of timeless baby portraits. Like many babies around this age, there came a point where the stimulation of a new environment became a bit overwhelming.
And honestly, that is completely normal. Working with babies requires patience, efficiency, and understanding exactly how quickly moods can change. Over the years, photographing hundreds of babies has taught me how to move quickly while still creating a relaxed experience for both baby and parents.

Including Parents In Baby Milestone Sessions
I always encourage families to step into the frame. These early months disappear so quickly, and while solo portraits are wonderful, photographs that capture parents interacting with their baby often become some of the most treasured images years later.
During this session, we created beautiful portraits with both mom and dad individually as well as portraits together as a family. These images help tell the complete story of this moment in time.

Why I Love Three Generation Family Portraits
One of my favorite images from this session was a portrait including baby O, her parents, and grandparents. There is something incredibly powerful about multi-generational family portraits.
Years from now, these photographs often carry even more emotional weight than the day they were created. Preserving family history across generations is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.
