For several years running I have had the pleasure of photographing this lovely Andover family. I’ve watched their family grow from 4 to 5. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know each child and their unique personalities. It would be an understatement to say that I look forward to this family’s photo session every year!
Once you start taking your own talents or abilities for granted, you’ve lost something. I say that because every year I worry if I will be able to top the previous year’s portraits for this family. Keeping their portraits fresh and new every year is important to me. I want them to be surprised and delighted, every single year, when they see their gallery for the first time.
I am so happy with how these portraits turned out. Trust me, I love posed, but relaxed portraits where everyone in the family is looking at the camera. Conversely, I love completely off the cuff moments like when your toddler breaks from the pose and Dad and sister chase after him in hilarious pursuit! Yes, that photo is below and it is a must see.
At this year’s portrait session, something cool happened. The two older girls were interested in my camera. I let them take a few photos throughout the session. Kids are so creative! One sister set up a whole scene with my little squirrel (named Sammy) who is my sidekick, accompanying me on shoots. She set up a little scene with leaves, composed it, aimed and shot. I have included it below, take a look!
