Little Miss L is three years old! I met up with her and her family at a local to Somerville, MA park. I have spent quite a bit of time with her younger brother over the past year. Their Mom elected to go with a first year baby milestone package where I got to see baby brother just about every 3 months or so. He had just turned one so was pretty excited that I’d get to see them all again for older sister’s three year portraits.

I have spent a lot of time over the past several years photographing newborns and the first year. I love it, that will never change. But what has changed for me is my love for children’s photography. I’m not sure if it is watching my own girls grow that sparked this new creativity. Or, sometimes as a creative I just need to work through some things in (the cobwebs of) my brain before I’m ready to move on and tackle something else. And then of course sometimes it all comes rushing in so fast I can hardly keep up! All things I love, to be honest.

So, I jumped at the chance to take these special family portraits for this family. Once I knew we had captured the perfect smiles, the interactions and the sibling shots, I was ready to pull out the crown and fairy wand. I am so happy with the results which I think really grab a hold of toddlerhood. They believe. They really do. It’s magic to see and to listen to. The entire time we were capturing these fairy photos in the woods, L was chatting me up about dragons. Childhood is such a special time. Don’t let it pass by without documenting this time.
