Boston Newborn Photography :: Little Man O
If you think mom and dad look familiar in this session, it’s because it wasn’t that long ago that I posted their maternity session. And even though both of these sessions happened a while ago (little man is six months now!) in so many ways it feels like yesterday. I talked about a unique connection I had with this little guy’s parents in their maternity post, so check it out for details. But needless to say, this session (just like the maternity session) tugged at my heart a little more than usual.
In mom’s maternity photos, special bracelets reading “Always stay humble and kind” made a big appearance. This was dad’s mom’s saying. She, like my mom, passed way too young of pancreatic cancer in 2017. The whole extended family has the bracelets. They are very important to mom and dad, and I’m sure one day will be just as important to Mr. O. The photo below of those words encircling Mr. O’s little hands is definitely a special one, and one that I’m sure will be a favorite.
The bracelet wasn’t the only extra special addition to Mr. O’s newborn photos. My heart nearly exploded when I learned that before she passed, grandma left a little note and signed a copy of Goodnight Moon for her grandson. Baby boy’s parents were given the present at the baby shower. So we were sure to include the book in a newborn portrait as well.
Color Choices for this Newborn Session
I love that this mom and dad didn’t shy away from dark colors for their newborn’s photos. The use of dark blue and neutrals gives such a warm and cozy feeling to these photos. Of course, the fluffy white fur creates a similar cozy vibe while also giving the session variety. Overall, the colors used were kept simple and neutral. This allowed all of the special props that mom and dad brought along, including the Boston Marathon medal (way to go mom!!!!), to really make an impact. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it, I love including sentimental props in newborn portrait sessions. Especially ones this close to the heart to both mom and dad.
